Alphabetical list of countries of the world

An independent state is a sovereign, self-governing state with its own authorities. "Not dependent" from any individual, collective, society, country, or nation on another individual, collective, society, nation, or nation. And most importantly, it needs to be internationally recognized for its sovereignty.
Currently, there are 193 fully recognized UN member states and two, Vatican City and Palestine, with permanent observer status at the United Nations. Two other countries, Kosovo (recognized by 98 UN members) and Taiwan (recognized by 15 countries) are also included in our update. So there will be 197 countries on this list.
